Commisioning of the U.S.S. Farragut
On June 10, 2006 members of the Board of Directors represented the Society at the commissioning of the U.S.S. Farragut at Mayport Naval Station.  Admiral David Farragut was the son of Menorcans who immigrated to Tennessee.  He was the first Admiral so ranked in the U.S. Navy.  He uttered the famous "damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead" command at the the Battle of Mobile Bay.  This is the fourth ship that the Navy has commissioned in Farragut's name.

On September 1, 2007 the Menorcan Society participated in the Pedro Menendez Festival celebrating the 422 birthday of the city of St. Augustine.  Members of the Society were also present at the reenactment of the first Mass. Sally Reyes Walton, Theresa Usina, Glenda Delany Frawley, Margaret Colvin Janson and Carol Lopez Bradshaw walked in the processional.  Member Mike Usina served in the honor guard supplied by the Knights of Columbus.

The Society set up a booth at the Fountain of Youth as part of a living history timeline.  It was a hot day, but we had members in period costume representing all Menorcans past and present, and talking Menorcan history with a lot of interested people.
